A BEAUTIFUL SPACE TO CREATE AND BAKE
KITCHEN – SHOEBURYNESS, ESSEX
BRIEF
Index were approached to provide a design solution for a space that in the words of the Client “was not working”. Following a site visit and discussions, design options and finishes were presented to provide the large open plan kitchen space desired.
CHALLENGE
- The removal of existing fixtures, walls, etc.
- Positioning of existing electrical cables and fixings.
- To bring light and a feeling of space to a narrow footprint.
- Connect the kitchen and dining area.

SOLUTION
By understanding the key areas that the Client didn’t like, we were able to work through to a design that offered the solutions they were looking for.
By removing a work surface and removing the doorway, we were able to create a large kitchen area that effortlessly flows into the dining space. Utilising off the shelf Kitchen cabinets and fittings, combined with bespoke shelving solutions, we provided a space that gives good working surfaces and an abundance of storage whilst housing integrated dishwasher, washer/dryer, hob and oven appliances. Specific areas where designed and built to seamlessly house an American style fridge/freezer, wine cooler, microwave and recycling/waste containers.
The light grey of the cupboard doors with the natural wood worktops and splashbacks helps to bring a light, airy feel to the space whilst the walls add a warmth and lift the space with colour.
The addition of LED spot lights throughout ensures that light is not an issue even on the darkest of winter days.

We can’t thank Richard and the Index Team enough for the fantastic job they have done in designing and installing our kitchen. It is exactly what we wanted and totally exceeded expectation in the finish and attention to detail.
