BRINGING A RETRO CHARM BACK TO THE BARBER SHOP EXPERIENCE
DOC BARNET, TRINITY SHOPPING CENTRE, LEEDS
BRIEF
Doc Barnet is a leading men’s Barbershop situated in some of the most prestigious shopping areas in the UK. The Doc Barnet concept is based around a traditional Barbershop but with a contemporary modern twist. Our brief was to translate the classic gents barber look from the existing Doc Barnet stand alone kiosk sites into a fully blown retail unit in Trinity shopping centre in Leeds.
CHALLENGE
- Maximising the space to provide ample working areas and customer waiting area.
- Ensuring that the overall look and feel reflected a traditional and authentic Barber style.

SOLUTION
The client wanted to create impact and engagement whilst maximising the operational space, stock display and storage areas within a very shallow retail area. The team at Index DFE created a full solution inclusive of site surveys, conceptual designs, full 3D construction drawings, manufacture and the final install of all interior aspects.
Our solution was based around utilising the completely glazed shop frontage and full height back wall graphics to create an inviting presence that would attract potential passing customers in the street.
Style stations were carefully spaced along the back wall, utilising existing power and water supplies. Overhead lighting and display accent light was also used to create the right barbers atmosphere and yet be practical for hairdressing.
We then added oak panelled fixtures to create a premium look and introduced a black and white chequered floor to enhance the classic feel for the shop. Use of additional quality materials, solid surface corian work tops, ceramic tile backdrops and brass door furniture enhanced the superior feel to the shop.
The shop opened pre Christmas 2014 and has become a major success. So much so, that some display fixtures have had to be re-designed to fit in the additional waiting area. The client too, is also adding a mezzanine floor above to maximise the 5m height of the shop and increase storage.

We wanted something unique for our customers and we now have the perfect salon – Doc Barnet is now the talk of the town.
